Omemee Man Wins $2.5 Million In May 15th Lottario Draw

KAWARTHA LAKES-Wayne Best of Omemee won “Ontario’s jackpot” – $2,520,857.80 in the May 15, 2021 LOTTARIO draw. Wayne also won $5 on his ENCORE selection, bringing his total winnings to $2,520,862.80!

Best, 72, said he is a regular lottery player and won $8,000 25 years ago. “I don’t normally play LOTTARIO, but I thought I’d try it after the cashier suggested it,” he shared.

The father of two said when he shared the news with his wife and son, tears of joys were streaming. “I told my son to come over and my wife was screaming with joy!”

Best says he plans to share his winnings with loved ones, complete some home renovations, buy a car and invest.

LOTTARIO launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 10:30 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the Early Bird draw. Visit the LOTTARIO page on OLG.ca for more information.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mount Pleasant Convenience on Queen Mary Street in Cavan.
