KAWARTHA LAKES-On Friday, April 30, 2021, at 9:37am, Kawartha Lakes Police Service were in the area of Mary Street West in Lindsay and observed a male operating a motor vehicle who was allegedly known to Police to have outstanding warrants. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested on the strength of the warrants. During the investigation it was determined the licence plates on the vehicle were stolen and the driver was prohibited from driving according to police.
Charged with Fail to Attend Court, Breach Probation X 8, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 2, Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited, Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, and several Highway Traffic Act Charges is 34-year-old Cody Vaughan of Norland. Vaughan was held for a Bail Hearing on April 30, 2021. The vehicle was towed and held for a mandatory 45-day impoundment.
Police say a passenger in the vehicle was also wanted on a warrant and arrested. 31-year-old Jacqueline Burgess was arrested on the strength of the warrant and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 10, 2021.
