Peterborough Police Issued Six Coronavirus-Related Tickets Over The Weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-Peterborough Police Service says officers laid 6 COVID-related tickets over the weekend.

On Saturday, April 17, 2021, four tickets were laid under the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA) in relation to a protest in front of City Hall.  Two by-law tickets for Flying a Drone in a Park were issued for improper drone activity, also in connection with the protest.

Peterborough Police Service says officers continue to investigate the information from the protest and further charges may be laid under the ROA and for the drone activity.

Police say there are guidelines for operating drones.  You can find the full list of rules, regulations, and licensing here: https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/drone-safety

“It’s also vital that we take this pandemic seriously and do what is needed – stay home and practice public health guidelines. We thank our members for serving their community and thank you, the residents, for doing what you can, for staying home so we can get through these challenging times together.” said police in a press release.  “Please stay home and stay safe.”
