Passenger Facing Charge After RIDE Check Stop On Sturgeon Road

KAWARTHA LAKES- A local resident faces an alcohol-related charge after entering a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check program.

Police say on March 17th officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP established a RIDE check program on Peace Road near Sturgeon Road. An officer approached a vehicle as it entered the RIDE check area and the ensuing investigation led to the 22-year-old passenger being charged with having open alcohol in the vehicle, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

No name was released.
