OPP Traffic Enforcement Results In Charges For Two Drivers

KAWARTHA LAKES–Two recent vehicle stops conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in the drivers being charged.

Police say on March 13th an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 35 near Mount Horeb Road and subsequently conducted a vehicle stop. The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Carlos Alvarez, 57 years of age, of Toronto who was charged with operation while prohibited, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The vehicle was towed from the scene to be impounded as part of the offence.

On March 14th an OPP officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment was on patrol on Maple Crescent when a vehicle was allegedly observed being operated with an improper licence plate.

The ensuing investigation resulted in the driver, a 20-year-old Lindsay resident, being charged with the Highway Traffic Act offence of use plate not authorized for vehicle.
