KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit has declared two Coronavirus outbreaks in the City of Kawartha Lakes now over.
An outbreak in two areas of the Central East Correctional Centre has now been declared over. According to the ministry, there was seven active inmate cases of Coronavirus at the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay as well as one staff case. Outbreak A was declared on January 30th and outbreak B declared on February 1.
An outbreak declared on February 8th at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Bobcaygeon that saw just one staff case has also been declared over as officials were able to contain the spread.
“Through our ongoing, precautionary staff testing we do at Pinecrest Nursing Home every week, a staff member who is showing no symptoms has tested positive for COVID-19.” Jenelle Whalen, Administrator, Pinecrest told Kawartha 411 News at the time. “Pursuant to our ongoing infection prevention and control measures, the staff member was wearing appropriate personal protective equipment during all resident interactions and in all areas of the home.”
An outbreak at Caressant Care on McLaughlin Road in Lindsay continues.
One new case of Coronavirus was reported in the City of Kawartha Lakes on Saturday. The health unit does not provide locations of positive cases within the city. There have been 522 cases of Coronavirus in the City of Kawartha Lakes to date and 53 people have lost their lives.
