Eight Deaths Reported At Caressant Care in Lindsay Amid Surge In Coronavirus Cases

KAWARTHA LAKES-Eight residents have died of Coronavirus amid an outbreak at Caressant Care on McLaughlin Road in Lindsay.

“The total number of active resident cases is 24 and we now have 8 deaths, which is heartbreaking and our thoughts are with those affected at this time.” Stuart Oakley, Communications Caressant Care told Kawartha 411 News.

There is now also 16 total staff positive cases that are active according to Oakley.

As of January 29th there was 17 active resident cases,15 active staff cases and four deaths at the McLaughlin Road facility. An outbreak was declared at the facility on January 9th after one person was confirmed positive for Coronavirus.

Caressant Care on Mary Street West is also in outbreak with one staff member testing positive on the Long Term Care side.  On the retirement side there are two positive staff cases and they remain at home in isolation.

Residents have begun previously scheduled vaccinations today. Future vaccinations have been rescheduled after a delay in shipments.
