Owner of Omemee Dog Training Facility Facing Six Charges Under Animal Welfare Act

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Owner of an Omemee based dog training and boarding company is facing six charges under the Animal Welfare Act.

According to the Ministry of the Solicitor General the charges stem from an incident with one dog back in October.

“The ministry can confirm that Nadine Francis, owner/operator of Good Doggy of Kawartha Lakes, was charged with the following offences: Causing Distress, Permit Distress, and four (4) counts of Failing to Comply with the Prescribed Standards of Care contrary to the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act.” Brent Ross, Spokesperson for the Ministry told Kawartha 411 News. “Given this matter is before the court, it would be inappropriate to provide further detail.”

According to her website Francis is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer offering behaviour & obedience training for all dogs/puppies.

“Nadine has been training and competing dogs and horses her entire life. Now residing outside omemee, she will help with whatever issues you may have with your dog.” states the website.

The company and the owner have a number of positive google reviews.

The facebook page for the company no longer exists and the phone number is not on the website. Francis could not be reached for comment.
