Patchy Freezing Rain Possible Tonight

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Officials say patchy Freezing rain possible tonight.

Precipitation will begin as snow early this evening over areas north of Lake Ontario. This snow will then become mixed with patchy freezing rain or ice pellets tonight. Some minor ice accretion is possible. Precipitation will transition to snow by early Saturday morning.

This precipitation is associated with a low pressure system moving north from Texas which will track near the south shore of Lake Erie tonight.

Freezing rain warnings are not anticipated at this time. However, we will continue to monitor the situation.
