Port Perry resident charged with having open liquor and pot in vehicle


KAWARTHA LAKES-A traffic complaint received by the OPP resulted in the vehicle driver, a Port Perry resident, being charged with two offences.

Police say on October 14, 2020 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP responded to a complaint related to a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on Highway 35 near Twigg Road. The officer located the vehicle and the subsequent stop resulted in the 33 year old driver being charged with the following offences:

  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act

The OPP is no longer releasing the names of those charged with Highway Traffic Act offences.

The officer seized an open bottle of alcohol along with a small quantity of cannabis.
