Licence seized and vehicle towed after OPP stop on Highway 7

KAWARTHA LAKES-A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Kawartha Lakes OPP resulted in the officer seizing the driver’s licence and towing the vehicle from the scene.

Police say on October 14, 2020, at approximately 6:43 a.m. an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP was patrolling on Highway 7 when a vehicle was observed travelling at 146km/h in the posted 80km/h zone.

The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle and the 53 year old driver was charged with stunt driving – speeding by 50 or more km/h, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Police are no longer releasing the names of those charged with Highway Traffic Act infractions.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on December 1, 2020.
