Kirkfield retiree wins $1 million

KAWARTHA LAKES-Wendy Page of Kirkfield matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the July 18, 2020 LOTTO 6/49 draw to win $1 million!

Officials say Wendy, a 61-year old retired retail worker, was at home with her husband when she discovered her win. “My husband was checking my ticket and suddenly he said, ‘Wendy we did it, we won ENCORE!’” she shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her cheque. “It was wonderful. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep.”

Wendy says she would like to travel across the country. “I don’t need to see the rest of the world, but I want to explore more of our beautiful country,” she smiled. “I’m also going to do some work around the house – a new deck and maybe a pool!”

“This is an incredible, once in a lifetime moment. I don’t even know what to say, I’m speechless. I can’t even begin to explain how much stress from everyday living has been lifted. It will be so nice to not have to worry. We’re set for life,” she concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Naturipe Food Market on Portage Road in Bolsover.

To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry. Future announcements will be made as to when OLG will open appointments to anyone wishing to claim their prize in-person at the Prize Centre.

Congratulations Wendy!
