Police say no charges will be laid in boat crash on Stoney Lake that killed two people

KAWARTHA LAKES-Police have announced that no charges will be laid in a fatal boat crash on Stoney Lake last summer.

On August 24th shortly before 9:30 p.m. members of the Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews were called to assist at a collision between 2 boats near Northey’s Bay Road (Bedwell Drive) in Young’s Bay on Stoney Lake.

As a result of the collision 2 males died and 2 others were injured. The remaining 4 occupants of the involved boats were transported to an area hospital for injuries which ranged from non-life threatening to serious according to police.

A detailed and comprehensive investigation was completed by Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team, OPP Aviation Services, OPP Central Regional Support Team (RST) and Peterborough County OPP members and police say no charges will be laid as a result of this investigation.
