KAWARTHA LAKES-Two members of the same family are facing charges after a teen boy was shot and killed in Omemee on Tuesday.
23 year old Aaron Simmonds and 18 year old Zachary Simmonds both of Bethany have been charged with Second Degree Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Police originally said the pair were from the Toronto area.
The accused appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay earlier today and have been remanded until February 27, 2020.
18 year old Alex Tobin was shot in a residence on King Street in Omemee at approximately 1pm Tuesday. The suspects fled the scene. Police caught up with them in the Pontypool area.
It’s unclear what prompted the shooting.
