Home near Omemee heavily damaged by fire

KAWARTHA LAKES-A snow plow driver passing by noticed the fire and called 911.

A number of crews responded to the blaze on Grassy Road near Omemee just after noon today. District Fire Chief Dave Kish told Kawartha 411 News they believe the fire started in a chair in the living room that may have been too close to the radiator.

No one was home at the time of the fire and crews were quick to douse the flames. The family dog made it out safely according to Kish.

Damage is estimated to be approximately $50,000.
