Shooting in Lindsay early Wednesday morning

KAWARTHA LAKES-A man was shot in Lindsay early this morning and the suspect has not been caught.

Police say On September 25, 2019 at 3:38AM the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to Wedgwood Park Apartments on William Street north in Lindsay after a caller to “911” reported hearing a group of people fighting.

The caller also advised police dispatchers that they had heard a gunshot during the disturbance.  Officers responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses.  A short time later a person who had suffered a gun-shot wound was located at another address in Lindsay.

The victim was taken to hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch has taken over the investigation, along with assistance from the police service’s Forensic Identification Unit.

The person who shot the victim has not been arrested.

At this point investigators believe the shooter and victim are known to each other and that there is no threat to public safety.
