Toronto man charged in thefts from Lindsay businesses

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Scarborough man is facing charges after thefts from Lindsay businesses.

Police say on September 4, 2019 a man attended a business on Kent Street west, concealed merchandise in a bag he was carrying and then left the store. The incident was captured on store security video.

According to police the man returned to the same store on September 7, 2019 and committed another theft. This second incident  was also captured on store security video and both were reported to the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service.

On September 12, 2019 an officer found the suspect walking on Kent Street west in Lindsay and placed him under arrest.

48-year-old Troy McCarty of Scarborough has been charged with two counts of theft under $5000, two counts of possession or property obtained by crime under $5000 and two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order.
