Five drivers charged with distracted driving in Lindsay over the weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-Over the weekend of August 10th and 11th, City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service officers charged five drivers with distracted driving.

The police service launched a traffic enforcement campaign which targets distracted drivers on August 1st.

Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of collisions in Ontario according to police. They say the goal of this traffic initiative is to make roads safer for everyone in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Drivers who are caught driving while distracted by a handheld device can face a fine of up to $1000, three demerit points and a three-day suspension of their driver’s license.

The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service’s distracted driving campaign will take place for the entire month of August.
