Two people charged at RIDE spot check last night on Highway 7

KAWARTHA LAKES-OPP officers conducted R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot checks last night. Officers charged the following persons as a result of investigations that were conducted at the spot check set up on Highway 7 at Kawartha Lakes Road 36.

Police say a vehicle entered the R.I.D.E check at approximately 9:50pm, and as the officer approached noted the odour of cannabis. Investigation revealed that there was cannabis readily available to the driver. A 23 year old from Bancroft was charged with Driving With Cannabis Readily Available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act.

A check conducted at approximately 10:40pm, resulted in officers entering an investigation as they suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, 49 year old Randy Stuart of Bobcaygeon, was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
