Bag containing human placenta found in Eels Creek

KAWARTHA’S- Peterborough County responded to a call of a suspicious plastic bag floating in Eels Creek just south of Northey’s Bay Road, North Kawartha Township on August 5, 2019, around 6:15 p.m.

Police say a hiker located a plastic bag floating in the creek with what appeared to be a human organ. Officers attended the area and retrieved the bag. The unidentified item was taken to a local hospital where it was determined to be a human placenta. Foul play is not suspected according to police.

Police are looking for the origins of this placenta and are asking anyone with information to contact the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit at 705 742-0401 or 1-888-310-1122.
