Dunsford man among multiple impaired driving charges laid by OPP over the weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-The OPP was very busy over the long weekend dealing with alleged impaired drivers.

Kawartha Lakes OPP Officers conducting a R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check on August 1, 2019 at approximately 11:30pm, at Peace Road stopped a vehicle that allegedly attempted to evade the check. Following an investigation the driver, 37 year old Jamie Muchmaker of Lindsay, was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

On August 2, 2019, at approximately 8pm, officers responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Cedar Tree Road, north of Fenelon Falls. The vehicle was located by officers and following an investigation the driver, 71 year old Brenton Lamb of Fenelon Falls was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) and Drive While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

On August 4, 2019 at approximately 10:45am a single vehicle crash on Hilton’s Point Road North was reported to emergency services. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. Following an investigation the driver, Mark Campbell, 26 years of age of Lindsay, was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on August 29, 2019.

Members of the Peterborough County OPP responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Lily Lake Road shortly after 1:00pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Police say a vehicle had originally entered the ditch and struck a tree on Stockdale Road, however continued on from that point. Shortly thereafter the vehicle entered another ditch and struck a pole on Lily Lake Road. The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol according to police.

Michael Irwin (age 33) of Brampton, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration – 80 plus
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Fail to remain (under the Highway Traffic Act)

Officers stopped a vehicle on County Road 36 near Bobcaygeon at approximately 7:45pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019. The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol according to police.

Justin Collins (age 27) of Dunsford, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration – 80 plus
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – MDMA (ecstasy)
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance – psilocybin
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Speeding

Police were called to a traffic complaint on Asphodel 6th Line around 8:15pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Upon arrival officers observed an ATV being operated in an erratic manner. The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol according to police.

40 year old Robert Kerel of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration – 80 plus
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
