KAWARTHA LAKES-Two separate vehicle stops conducted by the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP resulted in the drivers being arrested and charged with alcohol related offences.
Police say on June 30, 2019 an officer was patrolling on Portage Road when a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and was subsequently stopped. The ensuing investigation resulted in the driver, Stephen Hutcheon, 53 years of age, of Newmarket, being arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Operation while impaired – blood-alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code
- Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
On July 1, 2019 an officer attended the scene of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a deer on Blythe Shore Road according to police. The officer approached the driver of an uninvolved vehicle which had arrived on scene to assist the motorist and determined that the driver had allegedly been consuming alcohol.
The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of Tabitha Bowman, 34 years of age, of the City of Kawartha Lakes, for the offence of operation while impaired – blood-alcohol concentration (80 plus).
