Lindsay man charged with impaired driving

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay man is facing impaired driving charges after a weekend vehicle stop.

Police say on June 23rd officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP responded to  a report that a vehicle was being operated in an erratic manner on Highway 35 near River Road.

The officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle, and the ensuing investigation resulted in the driver, Uthit Chaichom, 46 years of age, of Lindsay, being charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Meanwhile on June 21 officers responded to a call related to a single vehicle that had left the roadway and gone into the ditch.

Officers were called to  Hillside Drive and determined that the driver had left the scene. Investigation led the officers to a nearby residence where the alleged driver was located. It was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol according to police.

As a result of the investigation, Stefan Mailey, 41 years of age, of City of Kawartha Lakes, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  • Fail to report accident, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Fail to report damage to property on Highway, contrary to the HTA
