Cruisers damaged in police pursuit in Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Toronto area man and a Lindsay woman are in custody after a short police pursuit on Wednesday night in Lindsay.

Police say shortly after 11:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 a Kawartha Lakes Police officer spotted a vehicle, which had previously been reported stolen to police, while on general patrol on Lindsay Street South in the Town of Lindsay. The officer followed the vehicle onto Mill Street and then attempted to stop the vehicle by activating their emergency equipment. According to police the vehicle made numerous attempts to evade police until it was eventually successfully stopped in the gas station at Lindsay Street South and Russell Street, where the male driver and female passenger were taken into custody.Two police vehicles received damage while attempting to stop the stolen car according to police. 

Twenty four year old Michael Thomas of no fixed address, Toronto and Twenty nine year old Zoe Azzopardi of Lindsay have been charged with numerous criminal charges including flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00 and failing to comply with a probation order.
