Marine patrol on Cameron Lake leads to charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were on marine patrol on Cameron Lake this past weekend.

The officers approached a vessel in order to conduct a safety check and the ensuing investigation resulted in both the vessel operator and passenger being charged, as follows:

Benjamin Scriver, 29 years of age, was charged with having care or control of a boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act;

Andrew Mosher, 30 years of age, was charged with having liquor in open container, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

The OPP would like to remind vessel operators that boating impaired, whether by alcohol or drug, carries the same consequences as impaired driving.
