KAWARTHA LAKES-On May 25th City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service received several reports of a vehicle being operated erratically. Witnesses advised police dispatchers they believed the driver of the vehicle was impaired.
Officers were initially unable to find the vehicle, but at 12:55am on May 26 the vehicle was observed by an officer travelling on McLaughlin Road in Lindsay. The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver after the officer determined the man was allegedly impaired by alcohol. The driver later threatened to assault the investigating officer according to police. Charged with operation of a motor vehicle with his blood, alcohol level above the legal limit, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and uttering a threat to cause bodily harm is 53-year-old Ronald David Shaw of the former Mariposa Township.
At 10:18pm on May 26, 2019 a City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service constable observed a suspicious vehicle travelling on Lindsay Street south in Lindsay. The officer stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver was allegedly impaired. Charged with operation of a motor vehicle with his blood, alcohol level above the legal limit and impaired operation of a motor vehicle is 22-year-old Tyler John Connolly-Smith of Lindsay.
