Two people facing alcohol related driving charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-Two drivers were arrested overnight for alcohol related driving offences.

Kawartha Lakes OPP say the first investigation began at approximately 8:40 pm on May 15th on Kawartha Lakes Road 36 for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Following an investigation, the driver, 24 year old Benjamin Ariza of Peterborough was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus.

The second investigation began on Highway 35, in the area of Lifford Road at approximately 10:45pm on May 15th when a vehicle was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. The vehicle allegedly fled the scene and was located in the ditch near Golf Course Road. 26 year old Clayton Cotter of Cameron was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) contrary to the CCC
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to CCC
  • Flight From Peace Officer contrary to CCC
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand contrary to CCC
  • Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed contrary to Highway Traffic Act
