Man arrested while trying to barricade himself in a Lindsay home

KAWARTHA LAKES-A man is facing charges after refusing to leave a home in Lindsay and attempting to barricade himself in a room.

Police say on Monday April 22nd a Lindsay woman telephoned the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service to report that a male acquaintance was inside her home, causing damage to her property.  The woman was calling from her workplace and requested that officers attend her home and remove the man.

When officers arrived at the woman’s home a short time later, they made contact with the man and requested that he leave the property.  The man allegedly refused to leave the premises and ran to the basement of the home.  Officers followed the man and located him attempting to barricade himself in a small room according to police.  The man was taken into custody and has been charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house and causing mischief to property under $5000.

In order to protect the identity of the victim, the name of the man charged is not being released.
