KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Fire crews are on the scene of a house fire on Peniel Road near Woodville tonight.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Peniel Road at Highway 46 at approximately 8pm. The entire structure was engulfed in flames. Platoon Chief Bill Lockwood told Kawartha 411 the home is a total loss.

One person was home but was not inside the dwelling when the fire broke out. He was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

Lockwood says strong winds made battling the blaze tough but no firefighters were injured.

There’s no dollar estimate on the loss at this time and no word on a cause.
