Woman allegedly sexually assaulted after meeting man through Facebook

UPDATE: ON NOVEMBER 2, 2021 REDPATH WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY.

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 53-year-old Brechin male was arrested after a report that he sexually assaulted a woman he met online.

The woman told Durham Regional Police she had met the man several weeks ago on a Facebook dating page. Both parties communicated for weeks through text message and had arranged a dinner date at her residence in Scugog. On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, the suspect attended the victims residence very late in the night and when he was invited in, he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The victim was not physically injured and called police immediately.

Stephen Redpath, age 53 of Campbell Beach Road in Brechin is charged with Sexual Assault. He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators are releasing his online profile photo to ensure there are no other victims.The suspect also uses the online alias of Steven Redpath.
