KAWARTHA LAKES- Former Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro has been released from the Central East Correctional Centre.
Del Mastro thanked his family and supporters in a Facebook post on Tuesday. He posted a photo of a sign his wife and daughter made to welcome him home.
Del Mastro was sentenced to 30 days in jail and four months house arrest in 2015 after being found guilty of overspending in the 2008 election and then trying to cover it up. He spent one night in jail. He appealed but the conviction was upheld and Del Mastro returned to jail on September 13th. The Peterborough Examiner is reporting Del Mastro was released last Thursday.
He has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court of Canada.
