UPDATE: 3 people dead after motorcycle crash on Highway 507

KAWARTHA LAKES: A tragic weekend on area roads.

Police say 3 people have died after a crash on Highway 507 near Charlie Allen Road on Sunday at approximately 12:30.

Preliminary reports suggests a group of motorcycles were travelling northbound on Highway 507 when the lead bike allegedly crossed the centre line and sideswiped a bike going southbound causing a head on crash with the third bike.  Another motorcycle took evasive action and entered the ditch. The rear bike going North bound struck a car that had pulled over to avoid the collision.

All three drivers of the motorcycles were killed, two died at the scene and one later in hospital. A passenger on the south bound bike is in critical condition but friends say she is expected to recover.

The deceased persons are identified as Scott Knill, 45 years of age of Woodville, Ontario; Mark Langhorne, 40 years of age of Oshawa, Ontario and Greg Campbell, 43 years of age of Toronto.

The investigation is ongoing.

The highway was closed from County Road 36 to Gooderham for the investigation but has since reopened.
