Police officer assaulted in Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH – A Peterborough man is facing charges including domestic assault and assaulting a police officer after an incident on June 3rd.

Police say a 36-year-old man, and the victim, a woman her 30’s, are in a domestic relationship. Just before 9pm the two became involved in a verbal dispute while at a residence in Peterborough. It was reported that during the dispute the accused struck the victim and then took off. EMS and Police were called. 

Later that same night the accused was located at a Peterborough address where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with assault, fail to comply with a probation order, breach of recognizance, fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking by officer in charge and fail to comply with recognizance.

While in custody at the police station the accused allegedly assaulted an officer.  He was also charged with assault peace officer.
