Rollover on River Road in Lindsay leads to charges

A 19-year-old Lindsay area man allegedly rolled his vehicle onto is roof on River Road last Friday and is now facing charges.

Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted by a concerned citizen at 11:00 am on Friday, May 26th regarding a vehicle on River Road that was in the ditch on its roof. When Police arrived, they say they discovered a 2009 Mazda in the ditch on its roof but the driver was not there. Police say the vehicle had no licence plates on it.  According to police it appeared to have lost control on a corner before rolling into the ditch. While police were on scene, a male attended the scene and identified himself as the driver of the vehicle.

The 19-year-old man was charged with driving while under suspension, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Under the Vehicle Impound Program, a vehicle can be impounded for up to 7 days if the driver of the vehicle is found to have a suspended drivers licence for any number of Highway Traffic Act offences.

Under Ontario law, it is the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle to make sure that the person driving their vehicle has a valid Ontario driver’s licence.

The name of the driver was not released.
