OPP officer injured after collision in Eldon Township

This afternoon just after 3pm a Northumberland OPP officer was involved in a collision while operating a police motorcycle in the area of Woodville Road and Kirkfield Road in Eldon Township.

The officer was stopped at a stop sign owhen an eastbound black ford pick-up truck allegedly turned left onto Kirkfield Road striking the motorcycle resulting in injuries to the officer. The officer, a member of the Northumberland Detachment and also a member of the OPP Golden Helmets, was taken by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and no other vehicles were involved.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting detachment members with the investigation.

The driver, a 30 year old man from Kirkfield, Ontario is charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
