Metal baton allegedly used during assault in Lindsay


KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police say thery are investigating an assault involving a metal baton.

Officers received the report of an assault outside of a Mary Street west residence in Lindsay on the afternoon of Thursday March 8th.

The investigating officers say they learned that a woman and her boyfriend were leaving their home when they were confronted by a man known to them.  The confrontation escalated when the female was forced onto the ground by the male.  The man then produced a metal, extendable baton and made a threatening gesture at the woman with the weapon according to police.

The woman’s boyfriend attempted to assist her, but he was also allegedly assaulted by the man.  The woman and her boyfriend were able to break away from the male, returned to their home and telephoned police.

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service arrived shortly after and located the male who they feel was responsible for the attack.

22-year-old Devon Hedley has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order.
