KAWARTHA LAKES- Police, fire and EMS were called to a home on Queen Street Tuesday afternoon for a fire.
Crews were quick to knock down the blaze but there was a lot of smoke. Deputy Fire Chief Terry Jones told Kawartha 411 the fire was contained to the kitchen but there was heavy smoke damage to the rest of the home. The Fire Department set up fans to clear the smoke.
The family dog died from smoke inhalation. There were no other injures. Damage is estimated to be about $65,000.
Queen Street was closed between Caroline and St. Paul Street but has since reopened.
