Lindsay resident arrested for alleged identity fraud


KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay couple called police on January 2nd after noticing unauthorized withdrawls from their bank account and a family member is now facing charges.

An investigation by police revealed that the couple’s personal identifying and financial information had been fraudulently used by another family member to allegedly obtain a sum of money from an online money lending website.

On January 11, 2018 members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service arrested a Lindsay resident for the offences of fraud under $5000, personation with intent and failing to comply with the conditions of a probation order.

The accused was released from custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 15, 2018.  The name and age of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.

Police are urging the public to take appropriate steps to protect their personal and financial information to guard against being the victim of fraud.
