Charges laid in fatal fire in Fenelon Falls

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP have laid charges in a fatal house fire in Fenelon Falls on Saturday night.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, which is being conducted by detectives from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Dave Robinson of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), 45-year old Gregory Livingstone of Fenelon Falls has been arrested and formally charged with:

Arson – Disregard for Human Life contrary to section 433(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
First Degree Murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

75-year old John Livingstone died on Saturday December 9, 2017 after a fire in his Oak Street home. Fire crews from at least four halls responded to the call but the home was totally engulfed in flames.

The accused has been remanded into custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on December 14, 2017.
