Fatal crash on Selwyn Road on Saturday

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP have released the name of a woman killed in a crash on Saturday morning.

Police and emergency crews were called to the scene on Selwyn Road at Birch Island Road shortly after 10:30am.

A northbound pickup truck crossed the centre line and struck a southbound Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in a head-on style crash according to police. The passenger in the SUV did not survive the collision.

73 year old Carol Marie Crapp of Curve Lake First Nation Territory died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV received minor injuries in the crash and was treated at an area hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

Selwyn Road between the Tenth and Eleventh Line of Selwyn was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.
